Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration: The Basics

Macular degeneration is an eye disease that affects the macula, or the central portion of the retina. It is also known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD) and can be classified into two types: dry and wet. Dry AMD is more common and progresses slowly over several years, while wet AMD is less common but more serious. If left untreated, AMD can cause blurry or blind spots in your central vision.
